Dendang Perantau is a song by the late P Ramlee, one of the renowned Malaysia actor, singer, song writer, director, or simply said entertainer. One talented and gifted artist he is. He died in 1973. To date, P Ramlee is still present in Malaysia, not physically (duhhhh....), but through the television and radio. Although his film are all black and white, except for one, these films are well accepted and welcome by many Malaysian, from young and old, across different ethnic and religion.
Dendang Perantau is one of the most popular song played during Ramadhan, to celebrate the coming Eid Mubarak. It is a song about a person who is living away from his hometown, and remembering the wonderfulness of his hometown, in Malay we call 'kampung' , and also his former girlfriend. But due to some reason, he couldn't come home. Trying my best to describe the song, hope I managed to get it close...ahahhaha... correct me if I am wrong. Dendang in English is 'melody', perantau means 'traveller'.
For those who live abroad, Dendang Perantau is one of the highly chosen song to listen to, to celebrate Eid Mubarak. And now, I have set this song as my ringtone. Enjoy the song.
yours truly,
Saya suka lagu Sudirman, "Dari Jauh Kukirim Doa", banyak makna tersirat.
