Ramadhan Day 21: Two pony tails

Today is the 21st day of Ramadhan. Alhamdullillah, it is getting warmer by day, but I have yet to decide on the washing and changing the bedspread, duvet covers and warmers, and put away the heater, afraid that the chilly wind will blow again.

But one thing for sure, as the noon passes, I will get sleepy. Yawning frequently, almost everyday. Dugaan dugaan. Blog writing is one remedy that could make me stay awake, or if I can no longer sustain from being awake, I will go to TV3 website and watch what ever available online that interest me. Like today, I just downloaded and watched a few episodes of Masam Manis Ramadhan. I knew about this drama from kty, thanks kty for recommending (indirectly because I knew about it from her blog). Best-best...

OK... Today I want to write about adik. Adik used to have wavy hair when she was small, but her hair is now more straighter and longer. I can now tie up her hair. But adik doesn't like the idea of her hair being pull together to a pony tail, or two or even in a tight bun. Well, she only allows me to tie her hair up into a tight bun when I bathe her, because she doesn't like her hair gets wet, as long as you will untie it immediately after that. Everyday, I will persuade her to allow me to tie her hair, nampak kemas sikit. An everytime she will turned down my offer. But yesterday, out of ordinary she agreed to my offer. She even requested two pony tails (am not sure if this is the correct word for ikat dua). Excited I was, after getting her hair done as she requested, I then took some pictures of her.
Taken outside our apartment, that pink and purple flowers are not blooming.

Today, she didn't want me to tie her hair, again. hmmm....

Ok... till we meet again, selamat berbuka, biar sederhana.

the COLDEST winter this year

And that only apply to my case. This is our fourth winter experience, and the coldest of all four. Why did I say that, because we have to bring in the fan heater to the bathroom for the morning shower. Well, not everyday. But we have never done that before.

I guess some of you must be wondering why is it so peculiar, especially those who are living in much colder states like NSW. Yup, you guys have heater in the bathroom. So what is the big deal ya. But not in Brisbane. I know most of the units here don't have heater in the bathroom, I may be wrong, but I am refering to the rental unit occupy by Malaysian students. So in my case, it is something extraordinary.

This is something to remember....hahahhahah... and this is gonna be our last winter in Brisbane.

musim berubah...dan dia datang lagi

Winter is here again. This is our third year winter experience. And this year is muccchhhhh colder than before. I tell you it is difficult to get out of bed now. Pulling the quilt up to my head. As I am typing this, I would constantly put my hands under the notebook for heat. We have the heater on, but our loyal portable halogen heater performance this time is not satisfying. Guess I need to bundle up more, pakai ski cap, muffler, gloves segala..wakakakka....anyway, this is a good time to stay in the office as long as you can...centralised heater... save my electric bill. But, sape nak masak kat rumah kan, perut perlu diisi maaaaa....

owwwwhhh I am so glad that there is no snow in Brisbane..... sejuk macam nie pun dah tak tahan ooooo....

ok enough rambling.

The story I want to tell today has significant with the picture below.

This has become normal occurrences for me every winter. Before I came to Brisbane, never in my life I experience nose bleed, though I have witnessed this tragedy (tragedy kaa) many times before. Came the third winter, same thing happens. Hidung rasa sejuk, even as I typing this, tarik nafas pun rasa cam sekat2 camtu. This reoccurence, what else to say, so no more grieving. Pepatah ada mengata "alah bisa tegal biasa".

Searching for information about what may cause the bleeding to occur, I found that, it may be due to (with what I am experiencing right now):

"Dry/Heated Air- Having a bloody nose is much more common in the winter due to low humidity and dry air. Dry, hot, low-humidity climates cause the same problem, which is the drying out of nasal tissue, which in turn causes the tissue to crack or crust. Rubbing, picking, or blowing the nose causes this delicate tissue to bleed."
More info @ nosebudd

oowwwwwhhhh patut laaa hehhehehe....picking nose surely one of the best thing to do to pass the time...ahahahhaha....

Winter is ending...

The chilling period is going to end soon..huhu.. It is getting warmer now. That is the only way to predict or feel the change in the season. You see, there is no snow in Brisbane. Winter in Brisbane is just dead looking trees, yellow leaves, yellow grass, almost bald trees and the chilling wind. But the sun still sting, unless it is cloudy. Unlike last year, we experiencing frequent rain this time. And the rain makes the winter season this time not as cold as it was last year.

So people in northen hemiphere now, I assume, is preparing for fall soon. While we, the southern hemisphere people will soon put away the winter clothing (jumper, knitted wear, gloves, mitten etc.), people up there are taking them out. How I wish we could exchange the clothes, but I know even though we can, our winter attire wont be enough and as warm as you guys needed. Just a thought.

It is bright outside, a good day to take the kids out to the park.

Down...flu....memory lane

Cold...shivering cold.... chilling wind would stay for next couple of days... snow near Stanthorpe, further south of Brisbane...nose block, sleepy eyes... brain freeze.... that are the symptoms of winter laziness.... yawnn...

remember the old days, back when I was doing first degree.... during slugish moment....would blast off my stereo (I know I was thoughtless of other people neighbouring my room...my apology to all) with alternative tune...often nirvana...sometimes GnR, garbage, metallica, green day.... other time frente, dinasour jr, offspring.....

Atang has influenced me a lot on my choice of music after I started dating him in '96... we have similar liking but not all his favourite became my enjoyable and vice versa. He first introduced me to SP... "frail and bedazzled" was once written in his letter to me...hahaha... then came others like weezer and those under "industrial" alternative band.

Mew is currently top of the list. And till today I still listen to alternative rock, the only different is, not that often that I am use too. Today atang was testing a set of speakers that he won from ebay.... and he chose system of the down.... chop suey was the killer song for me....never get enough listening to it... dont take the lyric seriously.....just enjoy the tune....

Sojuk mendatang...murah rezeki...

Yup....it is getting colder.... currently the temperature is 13-14 deg.... "Babah, should we take out the heater now??"... "tunggu....wait until we really couldnt stand the cold laaa...." Bukan ape, last year we were over excited about using the heater (first experience maaa)...so as a result all of us suffered from dried skin, dehydrated skin, sampai kulit rasa macam kain belacu tu laaa.... So this year, as best as we can, we try not use the heater, until it is really very cold. However, for Athirah, we have put her in the sleeping bag.

Today we had curry crab.....finish oledi maaa... and just now our only Malaysian neighbour sent us this....yummy...thank you Zue....this will be yaya's school lunch tomorrow...

This is yaya's fav. She loves carbonara..... Must ask recipe from zue......

Ok...today I want to retire to bed early.....

Fog in Brisbane

For two days (yesterday and today) fog obscurring Brisbane. What is fog?

"Condensed water vapor in cloudlike masses lying close to the ground and limiting visibility" (from Answers.com).

It is now winter, but the heat during the day, and cold during the night has vaporised the water droplets in the air thus resulting the fog.

Winter this year is not that cold comparing to last year. I had bad experience during last winter. Nose bleed, skin irritation, laziness, sleepiness...ahaks.... plus terrible...terrible morning sickness due to my pregnancy. Hope I wont get nose bleed again this time. It makes me difficult to breath.

Today I had meeting with my sifoo. And because the meeting started at 9.30am, I asked hunny bunny to sent me to the office. I managed to snap pictures of fog in the city.

The fog will hit again tomorrow according to the weather forecast.

The winter is ending

The class has started. Although the class runs fortnightly, it surely keeps me occupied. But I am not going to talk about that, it is no fun...hahahhaha... let us talk about the winter.

I am sure, you must wondering whether there is snow in the winter. Sorry to disappoint you (and with my pleasure of cause), there is NO snow in winter, in Brisbane...normally. Haa.. but this year the climate changed a little. It was colder than before (according to Brisbane people, we will never argue on that....bbrrrr). So in some rural area, it was snowed, very thin though. The lowest we got is 3 deg. Day time was so short. I spent most of the time hibernating, fighting with my nauseas as well. Truthfully, winter did me no good. I got nose bleed, my working hours became too short. Cant stand how the house smell, because it was so cold outside, you couldnt open the window when you are cooking. So the smell linger in the house. Skins were dry, due to hot water and the heater. Yaya and Atang also suffering from dried skin. Ingat winter nie such a big deal sangat laaa.... so bantai mandi, lepas tu malas sapu losyen, duduk pun dekat dengan heater.... haaa... amik..... But what ever we experienced, we did wonder how are those people in the northen hemiphere can cope in the winter. Climate during summer pun macam winter kat sini.

Nevertheless, this is what we called experience. If we never came here, we would definately will not gain this experience. But I am glad the winter is finally over. And before the winter make way for the colourful spring, it left a trademark last week. The rain came and stayed for the whole week. Alhamdullillah. Filling up Brisbanes' almost dried up dam. But Sunshine Coast got the worst of the weather. Some part of the district were flooded.

Other than coping with the weather, I managed to submit the proposal (and I already received positive response from the committee) and.... I also managed to finish the Deathly Hollows...Ok... I did say that I will not read it until the confinement. But hey... who am I kidding. The book was sitting there on my bedside table, it was so tempting. Before I went crazy, reading and finishing it seemed most sensible thing to do. Besides, I deserved a break. So I finished the book, and felt light headed after hahahhaha... (I dont like how the story end though.... cant believe that harry marrying ginny)

For that I end my story. The winter is going, spring is coming. It is spring cleaning time. So get out your broom and scrub, and go scrub the shower (this is a job for atang....hehehhee...)
