Goodbye Hyderabad

I am leaving Hyderabad, the city of pearls, tonight....actually, the morning of tomorrow, ahahha...am flying out at 1am. Can't wait to get home. Can't wait to hugs and cuddle the kids again. Are they missing me?? hahaha....Not!! According to atang, thirah went about as if nothing happens, but for yaya, everyday she asked atang when I will come home. Haha... Anyway, I will see both of them tomorrow.

5 days in Hyderabad, many interesting happened. New and sweet, painful and scary as well.

New = this is the first time I came to Hyderabad, first time I went overseas alone (without atang or my parents). Hyderabad very interesting place, crowded, dusty, driving here is thrilling (I practically closed my eyes during the ride). Sadly the city looks old, we can see homeless everywhere, though everywhere we can see a lot of development going on, hey they have cyberbad (like cyberjaya) here, but obviously there are many many poor people.

Sweet = the people are friendly, their hospitality can be proud of. But this is in service industry. However, shopkeeper can be arrogant too, especially when you bargain for 50% of the price...hahaha... well, that what you should do here according to local. Just imagine, when we went up Charminar, we have to pay 95 rupees, but the local only pay 5 rupees. But we can't asked for discount at Charminar, I am only giving you an example of what you get if you don't bargain. Another wonderful experience is meeting new people, people I have admired from far ...in research context aaa...bukan bollywood ka apa ka...wakakaka eh but, we enjoyed a classical indian dance show....cantik2 laaa dancers dia..... I am referring to the ladies ok :D

Painful = I have swollen ankle, I missed a step, dan akibat nye, kaki ku bengkak sikit. But I managed to drag my legs going up Charminar. And had bad experience the first night I arrived here. They put me in men hostel. Sib baik la single room, but bathroom are shared. Semalaman tak bleh tido ooo...takutttt...Luckily the next morning the supervisor came and realising their mistake they quickly moved me to the ladies hostel. I thought at first kat sini campur laki pompuan, tapi tak.... phewwwhhh lega alhamdullillah.

Scary = I refer to the ride. Giler scary ooo.... you hardly see traffic lights. Car, tut tut, buses senang cakap, berhimpit2 laaa.... and not forgetting honking, almost every second you will hear it.

All these are experience I will never forget. Not sure I will come here again laaa.... Unless I am being paid to come here....kihkihkih... shopping..... giler2...pearls, bangles, sarees, kurtas... but beggers are everywhere...so kena hati-hati.

OK.... better end this now. Need to pack and check-out. Can't wait to see my little angels :D

Greeting from Hyderabad

Dear friends and Salam to all....

Today is the 3rd day I am in Hyderabad, 2 more days to go. The doctoral consortium was great. I got good feedback and suggestion given both from IS scholars and research colleague. I met and did networking with some people. What an opportunity to meet renowned IS researchers, such as Prof Samba and Prof Ritu, that before this I only knew them from their papers.

There were also some uncomfortable incidents happened, which I will write later. One of it is I have swollen ankle, I missed a step, so I sprained the ankle. But nonetheless, I went up Charminar, kalau tak rugi oooooo.....

The Charminar.... been soo excited to come here and climb the winding stairs. There are 149 steps to the top, but we were only allowed to enter level 1. Can't remember how many steps to go up to level 1, I was carefully arranging my step so not to injure my ankle more. But it was worth it.

So many excitement, both good and scary too. Driving in Hyderabad mmg giler scary. Plus there are many beggers in Charminar. They will follow you, touching you, my friend got her head rubbed by one of the beggers. Giler scary.....

OK.... I have two more papers to present tomorrow and day after. Will write more soon.

Preparation part two and Ninie's earlier award

Four more weeks to go. I need to apply for the visa quickly.

Last Friday, I went to the Indian Passport & Visa Services office to submit my visa application. I went there with two friends, fortunate for me, I am not going to Hyderabad alone. Or else I may change my mind to go there. Sorang2 maaa, perempuan pulak tu. Risau2.

Not many people around, and took us under an hour to settle everybody's application. The office only accept our application and send them to High Com at Canberra. Then we have to wait for 10 working days until our application are approve. 10 working days tu. Today is a public holiday in Australia, the Queen's Birthday. Only tomorrow the office will be opened. Just hope we can get the visa before end of the month, or else .... haru oooo.... dah la passport kat diorang..... adehhh....Please process my application pronto.

owwhhh....tak jadi balik sorang, atang at the last minute (of the AA promotion fare) wants to be with our two little angels while I am at Hyderabad :D. Ada orang bleh carry luggage akhirnya hehehe....

.. and Thank You Ninie for giving out this award for her first 20 readers, and I was one of them. Jom visit Ninie's blog

Preparation part one

This week I was busy with making travel arrangement to Hyderabad. I need to wait for the second notification of acceptance before I can book a return air ticket and make a reservation at suggested hotel. Alhamdullillah, 2 papers that I have been working for a month finally get through. The second notification came on Saturday night. I was told about it by my research colleague, Ida. She is going as well. So, last Sunday we booked Malaysian Airlines to Hyderabad. We were lucky cos we managed to get the discounted air fare. The closing promotion date was on the 17th, that Sunday. Talk about rezeki kan.

We have made room reservation as well. We will be there for 6 days, half of the stay will be sponsored by the conference, so we need to pay for the rest of the stay. Conference registration is settled. Only two more things. Visa application (for entering India) and a return ticket back to Malaysia. I will be taking the flight to Hyderabad from KLIA. So I am planning to have a few days break before going off, spending time with my two little princesses and beloved parents.

Futhermore, since I am travelling alone this time (atang is not following sob.. sob..) I need to make sure my hands are clear to handle the luggage and documents. So carrying a laptop bag, a handbag and a suitcase would be a messy thing (ya, selalu I will only carry the handbag :D), so I bought myself a laptop backpack, senang, humban everything inside the bag. I can put my empty handbag inside the suitcase then. So I spent the entire Saturday looking for the best bargain on the internet. And I found this website which offers a reasonable price with a variety of selection RushFaster. Together with the backpack, I placed an order for Thirah's diaper bag. Dah alang-alang nak dipos kan. They received my order on Monday (dah Sabtu kan ari cuti). I received an email from them, informing about the dispatch yesterday, and today, the package arrived at my doorstep. Memang cepat, dan memudahkan, because I don't know where I can find a store that sells laptop bags in Brisbane.

What more, they have this 90 days return policy. Tapi tak pulang laaa, mmg puas hati :D.

|From My Mobile Blog| Serabut...serabai...

Serabuttttt betul skrang.... Banyak benda nak complete before going to Hyderabad. Dan banyak juga benda nak diuruskan, tiket, lodging, visa..... kepala pun dah berserabut :p

This is my home office. Yup, dulu I had one big table kan. When we moved into this new apartment, atang advised me to use a smaller table because the old one is too bulky to put in the living room (well, the living room is smaller than the old apartment living room) and, since I will spend most of my working hours in the office, so I decided to move the old table into the garage, and use this folding table instead. Tapi......tengok apa dah jadi sekarang...

Sometimes I need to work at home, especially when I need to do serious reading, and writing. When I need to focus, I prefer a more secluded place (and quiet). Kalau ruang besar2 nie, kang mata pun luas la memandang, lepas tu berangan. Lepas tu bila orang lalu lalang, telinga pun mendengar, dan mata pun sibuk la nak melihat....wakakakakkaka..... So I am more like a horse in a race. Perlu ditutup sikit matanya supaya ia fokus ke depan sahaja. Ok dah start melalut.

So what is on my table for these couple of days (and going and going....). The papers you see in the picture are my survey responses, that need to be key-in, translate, review the translation, and analyse. Everything need (bukan have lagi dah) to be completed by the end of this month (2 minggu lagi adehhh). The books need to be read before the conference. My office table is getting out of space nowadays. Can't even find a place to comfortably put my elbow, it has to be on top of either some papers, or books. And yet they say research students have more space at the workstation. Duhhhhhh

And why I am working from home today, I have 2 strong reasons. 1) Need to get all the survey responses in MSWord, by today. 2) The IT people still have not solve the problem that I am facing with a software (dah 3 minggu nie, tulun la buat sesuatu, tak lame lagi nak start data analysis). Jadi kang kalau diorang nak troubleshoot, tak bleh guna machine. So baik ku melarikan diri dari workstation tu.

Sorry friends, this is more like a rambling than informing ya...wakakakakakkaka... (kes kelapa kepala serabut dah nie)

6 more weeks to go until Terbang ke Langit Biru lagi (maybe singgah Mesia jap, jenguk anak2, guling2 ngan anak2, peluk kuat2 anak2.....rindu bangattttt)

Finally, very much-awaited news. I am soooo happy.

Will grin, for the whole day :D

Hope there will be another good news. Hyderabad, here I come.
