For those who are still in school (especially grad studs)

Soalan yang tak lekang dari mulut kengkawan, sedara mara, bila berjumpa.. "How's life in Brisbane??". "How's your study?". My response to the 1st question : "OK laaa... the people are great, the place is nice, but nothing compare to Malaysia laaa....".

My response to the 2nd question: "Hmmm... there are ups and downs. Mostly stressful. Sometime OK, sometime feels want to run away." hehhehehe.....OK laaa...tak mo citer panjang. I have promised myself not to talk about my study in this blog. I only have 1 reason for that, laluan masing2 tak sama, and it all depends on your will to survive serta keredhaan dari Allah.

Apa-apa pun....kalau stress n boring gilosh.... jom layan comic strip kek bawah nie...

Pre-raya : Bermantai

Bermantai...nie istilah orang nogori. Maknanya berkumpul untuk menyediakan juadah raya. Tahun nie ada program bermantai besar-besaran pulak anjuran kerajaan nogori. Baguih la tu, tradisi macam nie elok diteruskan. Selalunya bermantai nie mulo dongan tumbang (sembelih) kobau atau lombu (eceh cakap nogori pulak). Memang 2 ari sabolum rayo nie, kek mano-mano torbit la goghai orang jual daging lombu (kalau tak paham, buek2 paham yo).

Tapi kat rumah nie, takde la buat mantai camtu. Mak awal2 dah order daging n ayam kek pasar ampangan nun. Santan pun dah order siap2. Jadi 2 ari seblum raya, mmg sibuk la omak prepare bahan untuk buat rendang. Tahun lepas along kena balik awal, tolong omak. Tahun nie sobab ese ado, ese la yang kopek bawang2 tu sumo. Macam biaso la.

Sambil kopek bawang tu, omak selalu la bukak cito, kisah2 lamo dia bermantai dulu. Mmg meriah la orang dulu2 bermantai. Tinggal kek kampung, sedara mara pun duduk dekat2. Omak kato, dulu seminggu seblum raya dah sibuk dah, turun kan kelapo, tumbuk beras, buat kerisik, hai macam2.... la nie keluarga dah jadik nukleus kan...makin mengecil....jadi masak utk keluarga sendiri aje laaa....

Kami tak buat lemang. Takdo orang nak tunggu kek api tu yo. Jadi tradisi kami, pulut kunin omak laaa.... lomang boli ajo.....

Malam rayo pulak sibuk dengan hal2 kemas rumah bagai. Along pulak seperti biasa, prepare bahan2 utk masak lauk untuk raya pertama. Second chef in the family. Ese sou-chef ajo...hahahhahahhaha...tapi tahun nie ese kena buek kuah kacang, ganti tompek omak (kira dah handal la tu...egeggegeg).

Sebelum tido malam raya tu....sempat layan takbir suci 3. Mati jugak si nora tu ye (ke idup kembali nanti). Itu aje la kisah pra-raya ese. Sorry takde gambar...namo pun sibuk kan....gegegegege

Pre-raya : Inai 20

Nie entry pra-raya. Lepas nie entry semua pasal cerita-cerita sepanjang minggu pertama raya, kira entry basi...hehehhe..... and to make things much easier for me (masa sangat-sangat suntuk sekarang, pejam celik pejam celik, tak lame lagi balik Brisbane, keje banyak lagi belum selesai), bahasa yang digunakan terpaksa 'dirojak'kan...hahahha... so please, please bare with me ya.

Sehari sebelum raya, mmg amat sibuk. Selain dari sibuk bermantai masak rendang, pulut, kuah kacang dan sebagainya, sibuk nak siapkan pakaian, kemas rumah, siapkan kuih raya etc... Lagi, sehari sebelum raya lazimnya kami ke kubur arwah wan kat jln sikamat tu sebab kalau pergi pagi raya mmg amat2 la sesak. Jadi sibuk lagi untuk sediakan campuran bunga dengan daun pandan untuk ditabur di atas kubur nanti.

Yaya has been reminding me about henna. Dari raya tahun lepas, tapi kat Brisbane tak bawak henna paste tu. Dah agak-agak lengang sikit, mula la operasi memakaikan inai. Yaya sorang aje nak pakai, sepupunya mira tak nak pakai (dulu mira suke pakai, I guess she is out of this thing now because of her age). When comes to wearing henna, Yaya can sit still for as long as she was asked too. Sanggup tu. Kalau tak bercinta nak suruh dia duduk diam.

Old Town White Coffee, apa statusnye ye??

We took Athirah to Rekha's clinic for the BCG jab. In Australia, they don't provide BCG immunisation to babies. Sian thirah, for two days in a row she had to face uncomfortable situation. Yesterday we took her for 'bersunat', today for a jab. Alhamdulillah she is OK, except for a slight increase of her body temperature today.

Right after the jab. We went straight to Jaya Jusco to buy something for my niece, Irdina's birthday. Though we had celebrated her birthday together with yaya's (the story is coming soon), we havent bought anything for Dina for that occasion.

When we arrived at JJ, we noticed that there is no longer free parking (unless you spend not more than 2 hours at JJ). OK la....the management should implemented it, cuma, keadaan jalan tak sesuai. Kalau banyak kereta, this will create a long Q that would later cause problem to traffic flow. Hope the management will look after this matter.

Anyway, sampai aje, our stomach were rumbling. So we decided to find a place for lunch. We have been tempted to try Old Town since we arrived in Malaysia (nie pengaruh blogger-blogger yang pernah ke situ la nie...hehehe). To the kopitiam we went, dissappointed we found takde tanda Halal at the restaurant. So we were a bit curious akan halal nye makanan kat situ. We circled the kopitiam 2 times, looking for any Halal certificate displayed at the kopitiam. Sad to say, there is none. Yes we are particular with this thing because a number of reasons. Kan dah banyak kes kesahihan makanan halal kat Malaysia nie. Plus living abroad has teach us a lot about halal product. Many times I have came across product that I found contain non-halal substance in Brisbane being sold in Malaysia. Yela, kat Brisbane baru tau pasal non-halal substance nie, kat Malaysia tak pernah ambil tau, kira lalai dan ambil advantage sebab produk di bawa masuk ke Malaysia kan.

Anyway, because there is none Halal certificate displayed at the kopitiam, dah timbul syak kan... so...bila dah curiga jatuh la hukum kan... so we changed our plan and went to TCRS for our lunch. Lagipun staff kopitiam tu sume sahabat mata sepet kita. Sorry, we are very particular about this.

Anybody knows about the Halal status of the kopitiam? We even made query at the information desk about the status, and they too were not sure about the status. Anybody?? Sebab kalau betul halal, nak la rasa roti famous kopitiam tu.

Sorry, couldn't update as often as I used too (ya ka?). We have no access to internet at VSP. Plus, most of the time we were out, settling things, and did raya shopping. Now we are back in Seremban. And before things getting out of hand (nak raya faham-faham aje)... plus some research things that need to be done before Monday. So I think I should write up a few entries before 'berehat memblog' for awhile, and let it auto-publish later.
