Salam Lebaran, Ampun dan Maaf dipinta

Hari Raya bakal menjelang tiba.

Selamat bercuti semua (den tak cuti do...huhuhu).

Ramadhan Day 26: Raya raya raya

Today is the 26th day of Ramadhan. Nonetheless, this morning alone, I have received 3 open house invitations by friends. 2 on the first day of Eid and one on the second day. Not including our kongsi open house on the first day of raya. Wow, raya sakan laaa... like Mak said two days ago, "Enjoy it, this is your last time.." well she didn't actually refer to raya, but the Spring season. I told her that soon we will see Brisbane changing colours based on the type of flowers. Yup, that is something unique in Brisbane. As if the flowers are taking turn to appear. I am waiting for jacaranda to show their radiant purple flowers, before the flame of the forest @ semarak api take over the reign. I think I have posted a few pictures here in this blog of those two trees. But I will surely take new pictures with the two lil princesses under that trees very soon.

A very short entry today. I'm sure everybody are now getting ready to balik kampung. Seronoknye...I think this is the best time of any year dari zaman kecik sampai dah tua nih...hehehe... Apa-apa pun hati-hati bila memandu, suka pun suka juga, tapi kena beringat selalu. Ok then, till we meet again, selamat berbuka, biar sederhana.

Ramadhan Day 23: For the first time in Brisbane, we missed sahur!!!

Today is the 23rd day of Ramadhan. And today, the first time since we came to Brisbane, we missed the sahur. Aiyoh.... Adik was not feeling well yesterday, she caught the flu. So she woke up every hour, tossed and turned and mumbling in her sleep, and of coz I would then have to wake up to check on her, so both of us had a restless night last night. I did set the alarm, but because I was feeling tired and still sleepy, I dozed off again after switching off the alarm, and hope that I would wake up 5 minutes later. But when I woke up again, it was half an hour after the fasting begins. Aiyoh.... Due to this circumstance, we allowed Yaya to skip fasting today, but I kept reminding her, this is only for this year. Next year, no matter what, she has to fast. She looked confuse this morning, yela tetiba tak puasa pulak. And then I asked her if she wants me to prepare her lunch box, and she said yes. So I said to her,"eh, nanti kawan-kawan nampak cakap yaya tak puasa, kakak ok ke? She replied, "ala, kakak cakap la mak saya tak bangun sahur, jadi saya tak puasa harinie". Aiyoh...mama dia juga yang kena. Anyway, that is the story.

Ok laa... lagi seminggu nak raya kan, nak post iklan raya kat sini. Thanks liza for sharing this advertisement on FB. One of my favourite raya advert from Petronas. But I like the Malay version better, lagi terasa, menusuk ke jiwa.

Till we meet again, selamat berbuka, biar sederhana.

Ramadhan Day 11: Spring has sprung?

Today is the 11th day of Ramadhan. Alhamdullillah, the weather is hot with mild wind today. I washed a load of clothes yesterday and today, opppsss not literally, the washing machine did that. And thankful for the sunny weather, the clothes dried up quickly. This morning atang and I had a bit of spring cleaning, eh dah spring ka? It is not until September for the spring to arrive, but it is getting warmer nowadays, I no longer have to wear jumper during the day, still need to wear pull-over at night, and still using quilts at night. Well, the kids kicked it away at night, I still pulled the quilts up to my head. I remember last year, somewhere in August, we thought that the winter was over, and it was time for spring cleaning. So I washed the quilt cover, jumper, changed the flannelette sheet, and stored them away. So confident that the winter has gone. And a few days later, it was cold again, end up I had to take out all the things that I had put away. So this year I will wait until spring to come, flowers blooming until I starts storing all the winter garmet. This time would be much easier, will put everything in the packing boxes, for give away and take home.

As I have mentioned in the previous entry, yesterday we went shopping instead of looking for used boxes. We went to DFO just to get new slip-on for my lil princesses. Each of them has a pair of slip-on for raya. For baju raya, hmmm not sure we will get them something new, because they still have several pairs of baju kurung from last year raya, some dresses and new t-shirts, so maybe we will buy when necessary. The shoes because yaya n adik don't have a nice pair of shoes to put on, and that was why we bought them each. Tak mo 'membrazir' (yaya slang of membazir). Although here the celebration boleh tahan juga, with open houses every weekend, tapi takkan sama like celebrating at home. So nak beli yang baru-baru pun macam kurang semangat sikit, plus I will definately busy after the eid, preparing for submission. I am more enthusiast with the submission than the eid preparation. Picture below shows yaya's n adik's raya shoes,

Raya shoes for lil princesses

Yesterday jugak was an election day for Australia. Tak tau pulak sape yang menang semalam. Sorry, malas nak ambil tau. Anyway, about iftar. A day before yesterday, that was Friday, mood malas nak masak tu datang. Actually I have no idea to cook, like I said in the Friday's entry. I was browsing through a few of my fav cyber chefs' blog until I saw encik Mat Gebu's sosej gulung rangup. I had a couple of instant pastry in the freezer, and I used them all, bagus2, habis kan semua, clear the fridge. Sausage puff for Friday's iftar.

Sausage wrap in instant pastry
Yesterday, since it was weekend, I spent my time in the kitchen and made mee kari. Our neighbour came and gave us mee goreng mamak.

My neighbour's mee goreng mamak (she's penang mari)

For today's iftar, I going to cook nasi ayam, kuih, maybe kuih bakar kot. OK laaa...I need to fill up a form then packing some clothes that I am not going to wear anymore in the box. Till we meet again, selamat berbuka, biar sederhana.

Mood raya abis daaaa.....

Salam kengkawan, friends...

So how's everybody, after the long holiday? How's the Eid @ Aidil Fitri celebration? Confirm meriah dan ceria ye. Tahun nie kali kedua kami beraya di Malaysia (eceh, bunyik macam tinggal overseas aje...wakakkaka). Tahun pertama kami merantau, den tengah sarat ngandung, lepas tu dengan kelas semua, tak dapek la balik beraya. Ingat lagi yaya cakap kat wan dia pagi raya tu, "Wan, kat sini (Brisbane) tak de duit raye...". ahahhahahah... Tahun lepas, oleh sebab dah rindu sangat ngan family, dan mmg dah rancang awal pun nak beraya kat Mesia, rezeki kami, dapat juga la beraya kat Mesia. Tahun nie, ambil peluang lagi sekali. Alhamdullillah, research den pun mmg berkaitan Mesia, so kebetulan kan, sekali lagi rezeki kami beraya di Mesia tahun nie. Memang raye kat overseas pun meriah, tapi takkan samanya kemeriahan di Mesia nie. Bukan apa, bila raya mestilah nak dekat dengan family kan. Tahun depan tak tau lagi laa...kalau cepat abis, tahun depan raya kat Mesia lagi.

Balik pun bukan bercuti, kerja maaaa.... raya aritu je den relaks sikit (sikit ke?? yo la tu). Minggu nie start full swing la nie, sekarang nie memang rasa masa cepat berlalu, kejap aje 24 jam tu. Tapi yang indah selalu gitu kan, cepat aje berakhir. Lumrah alam.

Raya tahun nie seperti biasa laaa. Mudahnye, kampung kami berdua tak jauh, beza mukim aje. ahahhaha...jadi takde masalah balik kampung nie. Rutin tiap-tiap tahun pun sama aje. Yang rasa beza, anak-anak kite aje la kan. Kemeriahan pun sekarang nie milik budak-budak nie. Zaman kite dah berlalu, tapi kadang-kadang tu teringat jugak la zaman kecik-kecik beraya kat kampung, dengan riuh rendahnya, budak-budak main kat laman, mak-mak sibuk masak kat dapur, bapak-bapak bakar lemang masak rendang kat luar rumah . Masa tu tak rasa penat pun berpuasa, lompat sana lompat sini, panjat sana, panjat sini. Yela, sekali kumpul semua sepupu kan...tu dari bandar, tak masuk sepupu yang mmg tinggal kat kampuang. Dulu keluarga besarkan. Sepupu, dua pupu, semuanya macam satu keluarga.

Datang petang, sibuk pasang pelita. Pelita pun buat dari buluh. Malam sibuk main bunga api, mercun, sampai la ke tengah malam. Korang ingat tak mercun thunder clap, parachute, mercun katak, mercun padi, ngan bunga api brand kucing itam tu. Sekarang susah nak jumpe kan. Aritu pun dok perhati anak-anak buah main mercun ngan bunga api je. Ahhhhh jauh betul keadaan dulu ngan sekarang nie.

Malangnye raye tahun nie, semua kena cirit birit ngan muntah-muntah. Keluarga den kena dulu, 2 hari sebelum raye. Masing-masing melepek, paling teruk adik @ thirah. Raya pertama pulak, keluarga kakak, semua kena, lepas sorang, sorang. Mak dan abah pun kena gak. Petang raye tu, keluarga abang balik. Besoknye anak dia pulak kena. Lepas tu abis semua kena, sampaikan, pakcik yang datang umah pun kena. Rupenya ramai gak yang kena cirit birit muntah-muntah kat area rumah mak nie. Mula-mula ingat sebab makan tak ingat kan, almaklum raye. Kami yang kena dulu tu ingat sebab food poisoning, gi supper kat McD, kunun2nye ngidam la. Lagipun kami berempat aje kena, orang lain yang tak gi McD steady aje. Air pulak memang sehari sebelum raye kotor. Issshhh kualiti air kat Mesia nie, bila la nak improve. Bukan nak kata la kan, Mesia yang tak de masalah bekalan air nie, yang air berbayar pun, tapi kualiti air sangat-sangat la menyedihkan. Nie bagi peluang bisnes kat supplier filter air ngan pembekal RO la pulak. Kat negara luar, air dah la free, bleh minum terus dari paip tu. hmmmm.... Kisahnya, kami mmg suspect nie air la punye angkara, abis dah semuanya gitu. Si adik, den terpaksa sumbat pil chi kit tek aun (ikut dosage la, budak 1 tahun ke atas mmg boleh makan), sebab 4 hari dia cirit birit. Alhamdullillah, terus ilang cirit dia.

OK la.... den akhiri bebelan sekali sekala den nie, dengan potrait raye kami ye (seperti biasa, atang low profile). Gambar nie ambil kat tangga serambi rumah kampung den kek jolobu, yang skrang nie tinggal takde penghuni. Sekali sekala je mak balik kemas rumah tu. Kami pulak masa raye aje la jenguk rumah tu. Sempat nanti den update lagi yo.

Dendang Perantau...

Dendang Perantau is a song by the late P Ramlee, one of the renowned Malaysia actor, singer, song writer, director, or simply said entertainer. One talented and gifted artist he is. He died in 1973. To date, P Ramlee is still present in Malaysia, not physically (duhhhh....), but through the television and radio. Although his film are all black and white, except for one, these films are well accepted and welcome by many Malaysian, from young and old, across different ethnic and religion.

Dendang Perantau is one of the most popular song played during Ramadhan, to celebrate the coming Eid Mubarak. It is a song about a person who is living away from his hometown, and remembering the wonderfulness of his hometown, in Malay we call 'kampung' , and also his former girlfriend. But due to some reason, he couldn't come home. Trying my best to describe the song, hope I managed to get it close...ahahhaha... correct me if I am wrong. Dendang in English is 'melody', perantau means 'traveller'.

For those who live abroad, Dendang Perantau is one of the highly chosen song to listen to, to celebrate Eid Mubarak. And now, I have set this song as my ringtone. Enjoy the song.

Eid Al-Adha

Assalamualaikum,

This year we celebrate eid al adha on 9th December 2008 (though a small community in Brisbane celebrated on 8th December), one day later than Malaysia. I have a meeting this morning, so am not able to perform the eid salat. No special dish, except for an oxtail soup to be eaten with nasi impit or mihun (I told you nothing special right).

Again to all, Salam Eid al Adha.

p/s: terdengar-dengar suara takbir 3 hari berturut-turut di Malaysia, indahnya.

Salam Eid al-Adha

Salam Eid al-Adha to all Muslim.

Would like to share an article about Eid al-Adha
(ref: http://islam.about.com/od/hajj/a/adha.htm)

What is Eid al-Adha
At the end of the Hajj (annual pilgrimage to Mecca), Muslims throughout the world celebrate the holiday of Eid al-Adha (Festival of Sacrifice). In 2008, Eid al-Adha will begin on approximately December 8th, and will last for three days.

What does Eid al-Adha commemorate?
During the Hajj, Muslims remember and commemorate the trials and triumphs of the Prophet Abraham. The Qur'an describes Abraham as follows:

"Surely Abraham was an example, obedient to Allah, by nature upright, and he was not of the polytheists. He was grateful for Our bounties. We chose him and guided him unto a right path. We gave him good in this world, and in the next he will most surely be among the righteous." (Qur'an 16:120-121)

One of Abraham's main trials was to face the command of Allah to kill his only son. Upon hearing this command, he prepared to submit to Allah's will. When he was all prepared to do it, Allah revealed to him that his "sacrifice" had already been fulfilled. He had shown that his love for his Lord superceded all others, that he would lay down his own life or the lives of those dear to him in order to submit to God.

Why do Muslims sacrifice an animal on this day?
During the celebration of Eid al-Adha, Muslims commemorate and remember Abraham's trials, by themselves slaughtering an animal such as a sheep, camel, or goat. This action is very often misunderstood by those outside the faith.

Allah has given us power over animals and allowed us to eat meat, but only if we pronounce His name at the solemn act of taking life. Muslims slaughter animals in the same way throughout the year. By saying the name of Allah at the time of slaughter, we are reminded that life is sacred.
The meat from the sacrifice of Eid al-Adha is mostly given away to others. One-third is eaten by immediate family and relatives, one-third is given away to friends, and one-third is donated to the poor. The act symbolizes our willingness to give up things that are of benefit to us or close to our hearts, in order to follow Allah's commands. It also symbolizes our willingness to give up some of our own bounties, in order to strengthen ties of friendship and help those who are in need. We recognize that all blessings come from Allah, and we should open our hearts and share with others.

It is very important to understand that the sacrifice itself, as practiced by Muslims, has nothing to do with atoning for our sins or using the blood to wash ourselves from sin. This is a misunderstanding by those of previous generations: "It is not their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah; it is your piety that reaches Him." (Qur'an 22:37)

The symbolism is in the attitude - a willingness to make sacrifices in our lives in order to stay on the Straight Path. Each of us makes small sacrifices, giving up things that are fun or important to us. A true Muslim, one who submits his or herself completely to the Lord, is willing to follow Allah's commands completely and obediently. It is this strength of heart, purity in faith, and willing obedience that our Lord desires from us.

What else do Muslims do to celebrate the holiday?
On the first morning of Eid al-Adha, Muslims around the world attend morning prayers at their local mosques. Prayers are followed by visits with family and friends, and the exchange of greetings and gifts. At some point, members of the family will visit a local farm or otherwise will make arrangements for the slaughter of an animal. The meat is distributed during the days of the holiday or shortly thereafter.

Visiting friends and heavy rain last Saturday

Next destination was Puchong. Actually my friend invited us to her open house event on Saturday. But we already planned something in advance, so we could not come to her majlis. But she insisted us to come to her house before we go back to Brisbane. She is one of my close friends.
Sekali….sesat wehhh……Thumbs Down eventhough we have the map…. Tak gheti baca map (azah map ko betul-betul menguji minda aku wehhhh…ko buat pseudo code lain kali lagi senang laaa…hahahhahah). Satu jam kami sesat…. We have given up. Masa nie teringat Navman atang yang kami guna kat Brisbane. Tapi kalau ada pun...mana nak bayar servisnye... we heard the service charge is expensive here...hmmm..hmmm..... No

Atang kata lain kali aje laa…lagipun zuhur dah panjang. Coincidently there was a mosque nearby (mmg suruh solat dulu la tu). Athirah was crying and could not sit still. Stresss di situ. So I called up my friend azah, she said we were nearby her housing area… and demand us to come to her house (adehhhh)…. Salah kami…tersilap simpang. Akhirnya jumpa juga rumah azah…. Masa tu dah penat dah…ujan yang manja itu pun dah bertukar jadi kasar….

Pun tak lame kat rumah azah…solat, minum sikit makan sikit…kami bertolak pulang. Along the way home it was raining heavily. Yet we have one more invitation to full fill, my long time no see friend, liza aka being normal (mmg kepingin nak lihat rumah baru dia). We thought when we reach home, we will go up to VSP to perform asr, then off to liza’s house. But when we reached home, the kids were drained up, naik atas, sume melepak. In the end tak dapat gi umah liza… sorry liza …. Bukan kami tak sudi….orang dah jemput, kecil tapak tangan sekawah kami tadahkan…hahahahhah….tapi apa kan daya…. Apa-apa punThank Youkerana sudi jemput kami sekeluarga ini....

Ke mana hari ini?!

Kami ada misi besar nie. Ada juga jemputan rumah terbuka untuk dipenuhi.

Kami dah siap nie !!

Nak ke mana ye......

Hmmmmmm......sini ke??

Bukan laaa... ke mana ye??!!
This is one of the mission of “ikut tekak atang” la….

Di Bandar Tun Razak

We arrived nak dekat maghrib dah. My friend, Wawa was waiting outside the house. Oh yes, another kawan kamceng will arrive soon. We all memang rapat masa kat U dulu. Rapat giler la. Buat baik sama-sama, buat nakal pun sama-sama (mostly nakal laa…gegegege). Tapi nakal kami bukan kena2 kat orang lain, paling teruk pun kenakan kawan-kawan yang rapat jugak….gegeggegege…those were the days….huhuhuh

Anyway, my dear friend just lost her stepmother last week. Her stepmother died because of intestine cancer. Semenjak balik Malaysia nie, selalu betul dengar orang kena kanser nie. Lepas tu kematian, hampir tiap-tiap minggu. I know kematian happens everyday. But what I meant is, death that happened around me. Hmmmm……insaf mendatangi diri.

After maghrib, Baya, the awaited kamceng friend arrived with her daughter. Her daughter has similar name with yaya, the different is in the spelling, Alieya (setahun lebih tak jumpe nampak perbezaan ketara alieya). Datang siap bawak kehepsi tu. Tau-tau aje kami ngidam kehepsi ye…hahahahhahaha

Tak lame pun kat BTR, athirah dah start cranky. So after isya, we left. But we will return again to pick up my machine.

Wehh… sekejap…tapi sempat la menyakat korang ye…. Terima kasih sebab dapat kami.

Lopak air itu la penyebabnya

We planned to visit one of my ‘so kamceng one’ friend before raya. I need her help to fix my kaput machine. However, due to some circumstances, the programme has to be postpone until recently. So last Saturday, after asr, we went up to Bandar Tun Razak to meet her. This is my second time going to her place. The first time happened years ago. Ingat-ingat lupa la the way to her place. My friend has provided us with a map to her house. Tapi ikut instinct aje laaa….

After Sg. Besi toll, we exited into MRR2. We could see cars crawling ahead. Alahai… this usual spot mmg selalu congested. It is just before Bandar Tasik Selatan exit, nearby the commuter station.

Rupenya……
It was raining, but not heavy. Kereta dok elak lopak air rupenya.

Haiya…bukan dalam pun. Sekali this 4x4 lalu dengan lajunya, splashing the murky water to nearby cars, baru la kereta belakang2, redah air tu.

Jadi sampai Kampai aje, kami ziarah kubur dahulu.

Tak sempat nak bergambar bagai.... sibuk makan lomang n rendang ....hahahha

Raya pertama

Tahun nie, raya Aidil Fitri = 1 Syawal 1429, jatuh pada 1 Oktober 2008. Seperti biasa, pagi raya, siapkan sarapan, bersiap2 untuk solat sunat.

Selesai solat, sementara tunggu Abah selesaikan hal2 kat surau tu, kami pun bergambar.

Tinggal la omak n abah ajo kek umah, tunggu tetamu datang.

Kami....

All the girls (oppsss omak takdo sebab layan tetamu) in the family.

More pictures in our fotopages.

Pre-raya : Bermantai

Bermantai...nie istilah orang nogori. Maknanya berkumpul untuk menyediakan juadah raya. Tahun nie ada program bermantai besar-besaran pulak anjuran kerajaan nogori. Baguih la tu, tradisi macam nie elok diteruskan. Selalunya bermantai nie mulo dongan tumbang (sembelih) kobau atau lombu (eceh cakap nogori pulak). Memang 2 ari sabolum rayo nie, kek mano-mano torbit la goghai orang jual daging lombu (kalau tak paham, buek2 paham yo).

Tapi kat rumah nie, takde la buat mantai camtu. Mak awal2 dah order daging n ayam kek pasar ampangan nun. Santan pun dah order siap2. Jadi 2 ari seblum raya, mmg sibuk la omak prepare bahan untuk buat rendang. Tahun lepas along kena balik awal, tolong omak.

Tinggal kek kampung, sedara mara pun duduk dekat2. Omak kato, dulu seminggu seblum raya dah sibuk dah, turun kan kelapo, tumbuk beras, buat kerisik, hai macam2.... la nie keluarga dah jadik nukleus kan...makin mengecil....jadi masak utk keluarga sendiri aje laaa....

Kami tak buat lemang. Takdo orang nak tunggu kek api tu yo. Jadi tradisi kami, pulut kunin omak laaa.... lomang boli ajo.....

Malam rayo pulak sibuk dengan hal2 kemas rumah bagai. Along pulak seperti biasa, prepare bahan2 utk masak lauk untuk raya pertama. Second chef in the family. Ese sou-chef ajo...hahahhahahhaha...tapi tahun nie ese kena buek kuah kacang, ganti tompek omak (kira dah handal la tu...egeggegeg).

Sebelum tido malam raya tu....sempat layan takbir suci 3. Mati jugak si nora tu ye (ke idup kembali nanti). Itu aje la kisah pra-raya ese. Sorry takde gambar...namo pun sibuk kan....gegegegege

Pre-raya : Inai 20

Nie entry pra-raya. Lepas nie entry semua pasal cerita-cerita sepanjang minggu pertama raya, kira entry basi...hehehhe..... and to make things much easier for me (masa sangat-sangat suntuk sekarang, pejam celik pejam celik, tak lame lagi balik Brisbane, keje banyak lagi belum selesai), bahasa yang digunakan terpaksa 'dirojak'kan...hahahha... so please, please bare with me ya.

Sehari sebelum raya, mmg amat sibuk. Selain dari sibuk bermantai masak rendang, pulut, kuah kacang dan sebagainya, sibuk nak siapkan pakaian, kemas rumah, siapkan kuih raya etc... Lagi, sehari sebelum raya lazimnya kami ke kubur arwah wan kat jln sikamat tu sebab kalau pergi pagi raya mmg amat2 la sesak.

Yaya has been reminding me about henna. Dari raya tahun lepas, tapi kat Brisbane tak bawak henna paste tu. Dah agak-agak lengang sikit, mula la operasi memakaikan inai. Yaya sorang aje nak pakai, sepupunya mira tak nak pakai (dulu mira suke pakai, I guess she is out of this thing now because of her age). When comes to wearing henna, Yaya can sit still for as long as she was asked too. Sanggup tu. Kalau tak bercinta nak suruh dia duduk diam.

haaaa....this is the outcome.....

Gaya sakan la makcik tu ....
