Bloggers current topic

After reading all emails, I realised that today is the 30th of the month. Eh must put a Merdeka entry in my blog for tomorrow... showing some respect and proud to be a Malaysian. But what is the motto of this year Independence day?? So I went to utusan.com to search for clue....eh how come there is no banner about the merdeka thing in here..... hahahhahaha.... then I realise...eh... it is 30th of JULY not AUGUST....hahahhaha I got myself there..... laugh out loud....

OK... I was writing an argument about culture.... no I am not going to talk about that here... I will never talk about my research in this blog....no way jose....no need to explain why...

Am taking a break, at the same time constructing ideas for a couple of pages review on that issue. Often I would visit bloggers home for catching up. I noticed lately, 2 frequent topic discussed by these bloggers; 1. Durian and 2. Baju raya

Durian, oooo so it is the time of the year, the fruit season ya... What did I feel...hehehe nothing... I have immune with this 'terasa' thing already. Craving, not at all. Though I did think of manggis...but no desire. Last week, called Mak, she reluctantly told me about the fruit from abah's dusun. I understood, Mak always believe this 'kempunan' thing. No worries all, as I said before I used to this already.

OOooo speaking of kempunan, though I am not the biggest fan in this believe (because everything is in Allah hand). I did experieced the bad luck of it. It happened long time ago, a motorcycle accident. Yup it was fate that the accident happened. But relating the accident to this kempunan thing, before the accident, a junior offered me nasi tomato. But I was in hurry, so I just said thanks without tasting it. But the the nasi tomato looks so delicious. As a result...BANG.... I was hit from behind. Oh yes... I was riding the bike with atang. And that is why I have a dark mark below my right eye...as a rememberance of that tragedy. So maybe because of the kempunan....but Allah wanted this to happen of my sin ... Redha aje laaa...

Baju raya.... two more months, we muslim will fast again. Ramadhan will again visiting. So people has started buying cloth to make baju raya now I see. Just dont over spend ya... everything is increasing nowadays. Hmmmmm sempat ke pakai baju baru tahun nie..... I wonder....

Yaya thingy with the Bratz...

Yaya has watched all Bratz movie available so far at DVD rented outlet where babah would often visit every Tuesday. No more new Bratz movie for yaya to watch. So she keeps playing the only Bratz dvd that babah has bought her.

Though we knew that lately yaya has shown her affection to Bratz, there are no Bratz merchandise own by yaya, except for this dvd. Mine you, Bratz toys are more expensive than Barbie. Even all yaya's Barbie dolls where bought when there were on sale. Occasionally Kmart would cut the price during clearance sale. But not on Bratz dolls. We are not being stringent, just that we know that one day it will be on sale. So we are waiting for that moment.

Which character you think yaya love most, can u guess? hah...Yaya loves Cloe. When I ask her why, she said because Cloe is beautiful, yup that is her exact answer. Cloe is the blonde girl. She even talks and walks like Cloe. I did mentioned before, that yaya likes this girlie, beautiful things (unlike her mother). My beloved sistah told me that her only daughter also fond of Bratz. So yaya, you have kak mira to share and chat about this thingy when we go back to Malaysia soon.

Oh yes...about this particular movie that yaya keeps playing whenever she is permitted to watch a movie. There is one song in the movie that is so kewl.... "So Good". Even I like the song. I did recorded yaya singing and dancing this song, but the size is to large to post it here. Instead I post this video clip for you guys. Just a note, yaya is strumming the guitar imitating Cloe in the video that I have captured. Enjoy....

Down...flu....memory lane

Cold...shivering cold.... chilling wind would stay for next couple of days... snow near Stanthorpe, further south of Brisbane...nose block, sleepy eyes... brain freeze.... that are the symptoms of winter laziness.... yawnn...

remember the old days, back when I was doing first degree.... during slugish moment....would blast off my stereo (I know I was thoughtless of other people neighbouring my room...my apology to all) with alternative tune...often nirvana...sometimes GnR, garbage, metallica, green day.... other time frente, dinasour jr, offspring.....

Atang has influenced me a lot on my choice of music after I started dating him in '96... we have similar liking but not all his favourite became my enjoyable and vice versa. He first introduced me to SP... "frail and bedazzled" was once written in his letter to me...hahaha... then came others like weezer and those under "industrial" alternative band.

Mew is currently top of the list. And till today I still listen to alternative rock, the only different is, not that often that I am use too. Today atang was testing a set of speakers that he won from ebay.... and he chose system of the down.... chop suey was the killer song for me....never get enough listening to it... dont take the lyric seriously.....just enjoy the tune....

Pillow playpen

Yaya is 6 years older than thirah. She has been asking and waiting for a baby sister since she was 4 years old. And ever since thirah was born, she helps a lot, looking after her baby sister. Most of the time she would volunteer to do what ever she can, but of couse not everything, and with our supervision. Occasionally she would complaint about thirah, whenever thirah is disturbing her, curious on what yaya is doing.

Many times when thirah was under yaya's care.... yaya would construct a playpen that made of pillows. Her only reason was not to allow thirah to touch her things, other than the toys that she had placed inside her self-made playpen. And one day I managed to capture these..

"Kak long kenapa buat thirah camnie?",
"Nanti thirah usik cookery kak long....nanti thirah usik itu..usik ini...."

"suke ati la kak long...." but I will make sure that yaya put back all the pillows afterward.

Writer's block...it's kupi time

I am having writer's block, yesterday and today.... Thirah is a bit cranking today, she hardly sleep... I just let her play by herself.... when I turned around to check up on her, she was already under the couch.... she was on that blue duvet before she rolled and end up under the couch

Craving for KFC fried chicken...but

We cant eat that here in Brisbane.... because it is not HALAL.... aahhhh suddenly, last week, I craved for the fried chicken.... I remembered the last time we had the chicken, the whipped potato at Canberra... so I said to atang...."hmmm...terasa nak makan keyhepsi laaa...."..."isssshhh...apa la atoint nie..mana nak carik kat sini"he replied...
"aiyah babah nie.... masak la sendiri..." So I said to him that we need to go semail to buy some chicken thighs and wings. Since atang was not working last friday, he volunteered to buy them himself (usually we will go together)..wahhhh... cun la tu...I know he is bored at home, plus the butcher is nearby the cash converter, his fav lepaking place while waiting for me buying groceries and meat at Brunswick...wink..wink..(cam atoint tak tau).

So last saturday, we had these.....

the fried chicken, mash potato and sweetlaw (i bought this pre-mix at woolie)...

I have to fry the chicken using the gas stove....It will take longer if i use the electric stove and the chicken will get mushy quickly....

yummy......huhuhu...ok la to satisfy the craving....

HARAM products by Wrigleys

I received this email through PPMQ mailing group. This is valuable to us Muslim. Please read...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Akbar, Thank you for contacting us about animal ingredients and our products. To answer to your question, the vast majority of Wrigley products sold in the U.S. are free from ingredients of animal origin, including egg anddairy products. At present, the only chewing gum exceptions are Extra®Polar Ice stick gum and Juicy Fruit® pellet gums. Extra® Polar Ice gumand Orbit® Crystal Mint contain tiny flavor beads encased in a microscopiclayer of gelatin, which is animal based. We have requested the developmentof a gelatin-free flavor bead that is currently being worked on by our supplier.

Juicy Fruit Grapermelon and Strappleberry gums use shellac as a coating agent. The different varieties of our ALTOIDS mints do contain very small quantities of gelatin which is derived from pork .Gelatin does not impart any flavor to ALTOIDS, but it's a necessary ingredientfor the texture of the mint. When we use gelatin it is thoroughly purified and dried during its manufacturing process. Our staff is continually looking at alternatives to animal gelatin, but at the moment we've not been ableto find a substitute that produces the same quality you've come to lovewith ALTOIDS. Our LifeSaver gummies do contain small quantities of gelatin, which is also derived from pork. It followsthe same drying and purifying process as with the Altoids. If your diet does not allow you to consume animal by products such as dairy, our CremeSaver line does contain cream, which is a dairy by product. On the same note, our LifeSaver Fusions and LifeSaver gummies are produced on the same line as our CremeSavers, so there is a chance of cross contamination. Our CremeSaver soft chews also contain a small amount of gelatin, which is pork based. We hope this information has been helpful and thanks again for contacting the Wrigley Company. Cerita ceriti : Gelagat 3 Oz accent

Hi mate... this is how the ozzie greats you.... the first few months we came here, it was quite difficult for me to understand their accent/slang. Ozzies cakap macam ada sengau sikit....plus they will pronounce 2 3 words like 1 word... so i kept saying "come again.." many time in order to get it clear.... thankfully my sifoo is a canadian.... so it is much easier talking to him than other ozzie academic staff.... however the slang is not too bad, comparing to british slang.... welsh even worst...super tabik to kengkawan at the northern hemisphere who face them (british/welsh)everyday yaaa...huhu

Right...this entry is about ozzies slang...if you Google for australian slang, am positively sure you will find loads of links that will provide you with a list of ozzies slang. But what I am listing here is my first hand experience (hearing it and using it) of the word... what can I list so far....

Hi mate!! - they will always use this to great you... face to face, email, phone call etc... Mate means buddy
No worries - aka no problem (no problemo), forget about it... often use this at the end of conversation, usually they will reply you with this after you say thank you or sorry
Haiyour - it is actually 'how are you'... this is one example of pronouncing 2 3 words at once
G'day - good day aka hello... ozzies use this to great people as well
Bubba - aka baby... they refer baby as bubs, bubba....isnt it cute
Bloke - refer to a man, male, guy, i think this origin from british
Mozzie - aka mosquito, often come out during summer
Bloody *** - expressing extreme...definitely from british
Flat-out - aka very busy
Down under - am sure everyone know this
Lollies - aka sweets, candy (yaya fav word..hahahah.."mama, can i have lollies?" "NO")
Mackers - aka McD's ...huhu...

ohhhh just one quick info.... do you know that here, Burger King is known as Hungry Jacks?...hah...now you know!!...

Manchester - aka bedspread, linen, duvet cover, etc...nope Manchester United ...duhh
Piece of piss - aka very easy...kacang laaa.. in malaysia we usually use 'piece of cake'
Pokies - aka poker machine, slot machine .... you can see this signage everywhere, every nook, every corner in Brisbane
Onya - it is actually "good on you"....aka well done
Rego - aka automobile registration.... kira roadtaz x laaa...
Ripper - aka superb, fantastic..."it was a ripper event"
Salvos - aka salvation army
Ute - aka pickup truck, small truck like proton arena
See ya - aka bye, see you later

Everytime, at the end of the day, end of conversation, ozzie will say this, "have a nice day", "have a wonderful/great weekend" without fail...we in reply will say..."you too"....they practice this everywhere, especially the service sector (eg. cashier) and not just 'thank you'....

will update this list when i come across new word ya.... "see ya and have a nice day"

Exhausted

Have you ever feel sooo tired... that you want to drop everything and just lie down on the bed....staring blankly at the ceiling..... ignore everything around you....lie down doing nothing, thinking nothing....

dumb and deaf at the same time.... your brain refuse to work....your limbs failing you.... your eyes seeing emptiness...... only your heart beating and pumping the blood.....

maybe this is the sign of aging.....or maybe I am really exhausted.... I feel drained out.... or maybe the PMS....

too many things to do....too many things to complete on time.....

need something to boost me up...

are any of you a fan of garbage...nope..not garbage the rubbish.....Garbage, the vicious Shirley Manson...... bring it on Shirley....

Fund raising luncheon at Orleigh Park

And on Sunday, we went to Orleigh Park for PPMQ fund raising luncheon. The spread of food though was not as many as we always had in this makan-makan gathering thingy (the food was prepared by the community, gotong-royong masak, no pot luck this time), but was luscious and am positively sure there were not many leftovers. Congratulations to the committee for organising a successful fund raising lunch for all of us. HOORAYY!!

Didnt take much pictures though, was busily borak-borak with friends and posse. Managed to snap these...

Yaya with her buddy, Aina (Kak Zali eldest). Thirah was in the stroller. Sarah, Aina baby sister was in another stroller. These two elder sisters were at first, each took in-charge looking after the baby sisters....but not for long.....lepas tu LESAP.....

So I have to take thirah out of the stroller...

I love this picture....sooo alive.... that is Brisbane river.... on the other side of the river is St Lucia...

Out for a coffee

Another weekend short trip. Last Saturday, we went out for a coffee and 'tapau'ing a pizza. Our destination, Azra Pizza...the best pizza in town (for us). But before we order 8 slices of variety pizza, we hang out at Majic to have a cup of cappuccino for atang and one hot choc for me to be shared with yaya.

As usual la....

Atang's cappuccino

and the hot choc which was too sweet for me.... so yaya has to gulp most of it down...

and yes...we had a tub of wedges as well

Kami sentiasa doa semoga Allah lindungi Abah dan dimurahkan rezeki...Amin

Kami order ini dari LAIN brand. Mari-mari order t-shirt kat LAIN brand.

This is the first design given by zizie. I ask her to put something like "you are world greatest atok.." So she came up with this.

But I think the word "behind this shirt...." did not suit, so I asked zizie to change it into this..

Called up Abah this morning to wish him Happy Birthday. He has recieved both the t-shirt and birthday card from yaya (tak sempat nak snap the card). Hope Abah will wear the tshirt tonite...huhu... at the birthday dinner...bleh kaa.... harapan dari jauh nie... tak sempat nak cakap kat abah tadi...

Ngatuk sangat la nie

Athirah was up early this morning. Dari hari Khamis petang dia tak sedap badan bila buang air besar... I am not sure whether this due to the 6 month jab or because of the change in the formula (check out thirah latest progress at our fotopages)...

So after feeding her, thirah teran...sian tengok... nangis2. Selesai operasi..ala hasilnya...sangat2 tak berbaloi. Lepas tukar diaper, tinggalkan dia dlm cot, sebab nak siapkan bfast yaya. Since she is not crying, I just left her in the room for a while.

Masa berlalu.... I think around 15 minutes I left her alone in the cot, and there was no sound from the room.... hmmmm.... so jenguk jap....nmpk thirah sandar kat panda dia tu.....

zoom in...

laaaa...tido rupenya...mcm nie pun bleh...

sian...ngatuk sangat la tu...minum susu pun blum

Yaya new charm bracelet

Look what did yaya grabbed when we went out for mother and daughters' hang out last saturday. The bracelet matches her butterfly earrings, in which I forgot where did I keep them....shhhhh.... must find them tomorrow....

Yaya nie memang pandai melaram... and I think I know who she takes after...My mom and beloved sis la...who else....definately not from me laaa...because I am not good with this thing. Lipstick pun kadang2 tk pakai lorrr.... to me natural is beauty...huhu....

The mother and daughters day out

One fine Saturday (though it was raining cats and dogs outside), I took the kids to Toowong Village. Thirah supply of diapers are out, and there was the half-year clearance at David Jones, so if I get lucky, I can get OSH KOSH baby overall and jumper at half price.

Athirah was sleeping once we arrived at the Village. Sib baik ada trolley fitted with a baby carrier available in the basement... senang..tak payah bawak stroller....

Kak Long... posing while waiting for the lift. Dia tengah pikir nak beli apa la tu...cam mama tak tau..hehehehhe

I could not find what I am looking for at David Jones so we went to kmart to get some tshirts, pants for both yaya n thirah.

we celebrate athirah turning half year by

changing the car seat...so that Athirah is now facing front...instead of rear... yeeeaaaa... and that was what babah was doing in the previous entry...hehehe

lena tido tu.... kak long pun....because it is cold outside....
