Ramadhan day 2: Day 1 success for Yaya

Today is the second day of Ramadhan. Alhamdullillah we managed to complete the first day easily, especially yaya. She even helped me in the kitchen, beating eggs for telur dadar and coating the donut with the sugar. She was energetic through out the day, including teasing adik a little too much. Adeh, I tell you they can really get on my nerve sometimes. But I must admit, without them around life won't be meaningful.

Kids spent their 1st day of Ramadhan playing PS

Anyway, back to the Ramadhan story. It was chilly yesterday, the wind was strong and we could hear the wind howling outside. I think that was one reason why we didn't feel like we were fasting. Plus the day is shorter. Lucky for us, so far we experienced fasting during winter and spring. That is the positive part of it, the layback is, we have to get up early, around 4am for sahur if atang is not working. On atang's working day, we have to wake up at 3am for sahur. Just imagine on that wee hour we are eating rice. Hahahahah... well that is the consequence we have to take. Things always run in both ways. If you look around, you will see everything is two-side; up and down, front and back, left and right, etc. Can you tell me anything that is not? Ok..now I am drifting away from the topic.

Today Yaya is at school, hope she will manage another day of fasting. For iftar today, we are having potluck with our closest neighbours, just three families get together for iftar. Meriah sikit, especially for the kids. Each family will prepare some dishes. So I am cooking ayam sambal with bubur jagung today. Yummy.

For yesterday's iftar, I fried some karipap and donut, and cooked ayam padprik (yang tak jadi sangat, boleh dimaafkan sebab puasa..hahahhah) and telur dadar. Alhamdullillah, we also had some cupcakes given by our neighbour. It was her daughter's birthday yesterday. Kat sini kena la buat sendiri cuppies, kalau kat Malaysia boleh main tunjuk-tunjuk aje...heheheheh... but I wonder if I will buy or make the cuppies when I am back in Malaysia? You can save a lot if you make your own batch, tapi yela, time will be the issue then (eh macam la kat sini banyak masa...hahahaha). Pardon my crooked donut, tangan keras, huduh ada, tapi untuk sendiri makan maaa hehhehe...
Kuih for iftar day 1
Although masjid around Brisbane hold iftar and tarawih, but I perform tarawih at home. Ada budak tecit, so solat kat umah aje la. Kalau gi masjid, nanti ganggu jemaah pulak dan solat den tak kusyuk pulak nanti. OK, till next entry, selamat berbuka, biar sederhana.

How naive can you be?

Like all weekends, early morning while preparing breakfast, I will download my fav TV series from TV3. I just finished ironing this week loads, while watching Aliff Firdaus.....aduuhhhh.... sedihnya nyeee episod kali nie. Was emotionally carried away with that "missing" scenes of aliff's parents... and how naive can aliff be....skipping classes after just enrolled!!.... shame on you aliff...

OK...nak solat....then off to the kitchen to prepare some apam balik... we are visiting friends this evening...

bila tekak nak apam balik

Salam friends, kengkawan and all...

Last week I finally get the focus I need. Tak lama, dua hari jek, but cukup la tu. Managed to complete a couple of tasks and met the milestones. And suddenly my sifoos started demanding, although I think it is conceivable, tapi den nie cepat gabra, bukan sikit, banyak...ahahahha...nampak aje den nie cool outside, tapi dalam, rasa seumpama kartun flintstones yang tengah berlari membawa kereta yang bertayar kan batu tu. Kat sini ada tayangan kartun flintstones setiap jam 6 petang kat Go Channel (lari tajuk dah nie)...

Anyway, minggu lepas jugak rasa malas nak duduk depan komputer, tapi apo nak buek, dah kojo dengan komputer, so malas la nak online segala macam fasiliti rangkaian sosial ni. Kengkawan pernah rasa cemuih/jemu/jelak tak bila mengadap internet? Haaa sampai gitu sekali.

Nie sebab tengok "My Kitchen Rule" la nie, tengok chocolate mousse cake contestants yang sedap tu. Nak buat mousse cake, issshhh tak terbuatnye, nak buat chocolate cake, kena pikir 100 kali, kena find out dulu sape yang boleh menghabiskan kek itu (kang tak pasal-pasal den yang kena abiskan). Jadi oleh kerana tak nak menganiaya sesape (atang now is blaming me on his sudden weight increment), tekak nie terus switch kepada apam balik (boleh gitu). But then I need to get the approval of atang (sebab dia yang akan makan nanti) wakakakkakaka.... and he agreed by searching the recipe for me (dah den masih lagi cemuih nak masuk internet).

Jadi petang jumaat tu, oleh kerana dah tak tahan sangat... orang kalau dah food lover, craving dia memang tak bleh sekat-sekat lagi.

Ada sorang reader, namanye Lya, tinggalkan comment at one of my pizza's entry. I thought at first I wanted to respond directly under that story, but I think it would be difficult for her to search back the post since I have removed the "direct-link" box to comments posted in this blog. Thus, I replied her comment here:

salam, find out your blog. interesting. nak tanya mana u beli chicken pepperoni kat brisbane ni?Thanks.Lya

Thank you Lya for visiting, it is my pleasure to help newcomers, muslim students especially, about halal food in Brisbane. And glad you found this blog interesting.

About halal pepperoni, I usually bought it at Ismail Butcher at McWhirters in the Valley, or popularly known as China Town. Tapi tengok jugak, sometimes takde. Other option is the butcher at Logan Rd. But it is a bit expensive there. Maybe some of my Brisbane friends have other suggestion. Hope this helps.

Apa pulak citer my two little princesses. Yaya is now happy in school. She met her old friends from prep classes, so happy to go to school everyday. Tapi makcik nie mmg jenis forgetful laaa...ada aje barang tertinggal kat sekolah... aduhai... Yang si kecik cilik nie pulak, kuat menyonteng, pantang kite leka sikit, kalau ada pensel kat tangan dia, ada la ruang, n ceruk dia akan conteng nanti.... And adik still can't leave her pacifier. Her old ones dah koyak, so we have to buy a new one on weekend (takut kang dia tertelan pulak bila sedap ngisap tu). Kenapa we all tak stop aje kan?? We just hope she will get tired of it, like yaya. Yaya dulu tak lame, masuk 1 tahun lebih sikit, dia dah tak nak. Maybe puting adik nie sedap sangat kot....

Pray for the best

Salam to all,

My apology for living this "room" for long. Being occupied is one good reason that I can give (I know I have over used this reason, but don't everybody??), but what have been holding up my ramblings most is about an unfortunate thing happened in the family.

I am not good at expressing bad/sad feelings to people, especially to those who I have not meet in real-life. I am known among friends as "a happy go lucky" person. Not that I am not sensitive, I do cry, have cry almost everyday since I start this PhD journey. But I did all the crying inside, on the outside I am what people have known me. So I maybe look tough on the outside, but I am fragile inside. I am frail....

Dear friends, please pray for my dearest Abah. He is undergoing an operation to remove part of his stomach tomorrow. There is a malignant/tumor in his duodenum. Hope everything goes well.

Meeting old friends

Days passing by quickly, I have about 2 weeks more left to complete what I have already planned to do. I think I have done 40% of the list (I hope), sempat kot 2 weeks to reach 100% (tetiba rasa bulu roma naik kat tengkuk nie...wakakakakka).

Works but no play makes you a very boring person kan..ahahahhaha so lame. On weekdays, we can't do anything much, for yaya is at school. Thus, our weekends, so far, were hectic, mostly attending open houses, visiting relatives and some old friends. Talking about friends, thanks to these social network platforms that help us in reuniting long lost friends, from everywhere around the globe. So this raya, we took the opportunity to see some of our long lost friends.

Liza, old friends from Jasin. We lived in the same neighbourhood, so technically we are neighbours. The last time we met was before leaving school, lama betul. We got the chance to savour her famous mee rebus, fuhhh....sodap. I was practically full, rugi tak dapat makan banyak ahahahha.... Should have fast at least half of the day :D. Thanks Liza, buat susah-susah aje masak, (tapi kena bagitau awal2 nak datang, because pantang Liza kalau muncul aje kat depan rumah kan ...hehehhehe...)

Between visiting relatives houses, able to squeeze a little time to see Achu, my sparring partner. Itu pun janji pukul berapa, akhirnya dapat jumpe pukul berapa. Berapa kali call bagitau change of time. Alhamdullilah, dapat gak jumpa ye Achu.

Then last week, since I have to cancelled my trips to Malacca and JayBee, and coincidentally Gee who is working in Kelantan, attended conference in Putrajaya and Iza from JayBee had exhibition in Subang, and with few other friends who is living as far as Klang, came down to Putrajaya, and we met at Alamanda. There are my university friends. Some good friends are organising a reunion, this 24th, so we talked mostly about the big event. We left our uni, 10 years ago. It is about time to organise reunion. Owwhh...Iza used to frequent my blog, she was a blogger, now blog dia pun dah bersawang nampaknye. I guess bila balik tanah air nie, kekeringan idea (macam den gak). From bottom left, Baya, nie kawan gaduh, nangis, ketawa :D, glad that we still keep in touch, blog Ilham Mira tu dia la empunyanya and that sweet little girl is the only daughter of Baya; next to Baya's only princess Yu, my first year roommate, her recent achievement is gave birth to triplet, she has 6 boys in total, den mmg kagum kawan2 sebaya yang anak lebih 3 nie, hebat-hebat; that guy far back in the picture is YB Marshar, we called YB sebab kuat politik tu, dari zaman uni, sampai sekarang, mane tau masin mulut kitaorang nie kan; going down, lady in black skarf, Gee, my advisor during saat-saat genting buat PhD nie. Kalau tengah down, mesti carik dia, because she is always on line, well kalau tak down pun slalau gak kacau dia..ahahahhahah; the man yang diapit oleh dua orang ladies, Aca, we were not very close, bila ada aktiviti kat uni je baru borak-borak :D and last but not least, Iza, our entrepreneur lady, sebab macam-macam business dia venture, remember one time, I advertised her sugar paste tu. Hope to see them again this 24th.

Yu (refer above) is working at MAMPU. I am lucky I have a friend who is working there, ada research material nak carik kat library MAMPU tu. So a day after Alamanda meeting, we met again, nak pinjam buku kat MAMPU. Sape sangka Yu nie pun layan rock macam den, sebab dulu Yu bertudung labuh... I caught her one day, playing my alternative cassettes on my radio ahahahahhahahah

And last night, we lepak at one of the mapley in Seremban, met up with some old Georgians friends. Ini ladies only picture, ada men aka husband group gak, tapi den tak snap, diorang tgh sibuk borak2, malas kacau. Next to me, Fitah, infront Fitah, Jas, aka jyss @ jipang, she is now back in Malaysia for good, but tabik dia sebab ada idea lagi update blog tu..ahahahhaha; and last but not least, Amai, her mom is also my mom's friend so a common story that we shared (amai n me) is she was born 2 days before me, hospital sama, so mak cakap, hari mak masuk hospital, aunty A kuar hospital...hahhaha...

Tu yang sempat jumpe. Ada lagi kawan-kawan lama yang nak jumpe nie. Very hopeful I will able to see them. Itu aje la cerita seminggu sekali den nie. Enjoy the rest of the week friends.
